Otter Friend

After apparently making a connection with one of the otters last winter, I have been looking forward to this one to see if he would remember me at all.  Since I got back after Thanksgiving, I have gone out to the pond regularly, but I had seen otters only once and that was with them staying far out in the pond.  Last Wednesday, I tried again, with no luck in the morning.  After a drive to Eagle Point to view the aftermath of the fire at Butte Creek Mill, I stopped back by the pond.  Shortly after I got there, three otters swam by, and one of them left the others to hang around a while.  He (or she) stayed within 20 feet of me for about one hour, catching fish, and eating them on the nearby logs.  It seemed like the otter remembered me and was saying hello again.  Another great day at the pond!!AshlandOtterReflection1tAshlandOtter22tAshlandOtter21tAshlandOtter20tAshlandOtter19tAshlandOtter18tAshlandOtter17tAshlandOtter16tAshlandOtter15tAshlandOtter14tAshlandOtter13tAshlandOtter12tAshlandOtter11tAshlandOtter10tAshlandOtter9tAshlandOtter8tAshlandOtter7tAshlandOtter6tAshlandOtter5tAshlandOtter4tAshlandOtter3tAshlandOtter2tAshlandOtter1t
